Led by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, opposition MPs rallied outside Parliament’s Makar Dwar, calling for a JPC probe into Adani Group allegations, as tensions within the INDIA bloc drew BJP criticism
A divided opposition staged a protest in the Parliament complex on Monday, demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into allegations involving the Adani Group. Led by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, MPs from several opposition parties gathered outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament, chanting slogans such as “Modi, Adani ek hain” and “we want justice.”
Notably absent from the protest were the Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Aam Aadmi Party, prompting the BJP to allege fractures within the INDIA bloc. However, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav dismissed the claims, stating, “all is well” in the opposition alliance.

Protesting MPs from the Left, DMK, Shiv Sena (UBT), RJD, and NCP lined up in front of the Samvidhan Sadan, adhering to an advisory by the Lok Sabha Secretariat not to demonstrate on the steps of Parliament. The protest marks the latest in a series of demonstrations that have taken place during the ongoing winter session of Parliament.
The Congress has been persistent in demanding a JPC probe, citing allegations against the Adani Group in a US court as evidence of wrongdoing. Rahul Gandhi has gone further, calling for the immediate arrest of Adani. Meanwhile, the Adani Group has categorically denied the allegations, labeling them as “baseless.”
Separately, Congress MP Vijay Vasanth submitted an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha, urging the government to remove GST on agricultural products and essential food items. Vasanth argued that exempting items like Atta, Maida, and Besan from GST would provide relief to farmers and the economically weaker sections, while also boosting agricultural productivity. He emphasized the need for increased investment in key agricultural initiatives to support farmers amid rising input costs and inflation.
