The Ministry of External Affairs stated on Thursday that India and China have “positively affirmed” the execution of disengagement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The two countries have also concurred on the necessity for efficient border management, in accordance with bilateral agreements.

“The two sides positively affirmed the implementation of the most recent disengagement agreement which completed the resolution of the issues that emerged in 2020,” the MEA said in a statement.

On October 21, India finalized a border agreement with China.

Subsequently, both militaries initiated the disengagement process, dismantling the infrastructure they established in Eastern Ladakh’s Depsang and Demchok regions post the 2020 Galwan conflict, and retreating personnel to their pre-conflict locations.

The 32nd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) was held on Thursday in Delhi.

Both countries prepared for the next meeting of the Special Representatives, which is to be held in accordance with the decision of the two leaders in a meeting that took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia’s Kazan on October 23, two days after the border truce.

In the Kazan meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held bilateral talks after five years.

The border patrol agreement, revealed on October 21, resulted in a discussion between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, on October 23.

During the WMCC meeting on Thursday, both parties reached an agreement to reinvigorate various dialogue mechanisms, such as the Special Representatives discussion regarding the boundary issue.

The withdrawal of forces in the Depsang Plains and Demchok, along with comments from Beijing and New Delhi, indicate a desire to mend bilateral relations. India will proceed carefully considering the unpleasant experience of 2020 when the Chinese breached the LAC.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
