Following their decisive win in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance partners, BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, are in talks regarding the Chief Minister position as they meet with MLA-elects on Sunday. The parties will select their own legislative party leaders.

Ajit Pawar, a leader of the NCP, was chosen as the Legislative Party Leader of his party during a meeting held at his official residence in Mumbai. The BJP core committee meeting is scheduled to take place at Devendra Fadnavis‘ official residence in Mumbai, whereas Eknath Shinde has organized a meeting for all newly elected MLAs at a hotel in Bandra.

After the individual party meetings, all Mahayuti legislators will convene on Monday for a coalition meeting to deliberate on choosing the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

The current Mahayuti coalition had an impressive victory in Maharashtra, securing 233 seats out of 288 and significantly weakening the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), who only managed to obtain 49 seats, preventing them from being able to hold the position of Opposition Leader.

The BJP became the biggest party with an unprecedented 132 seats, while Shiv Sena and NCP also improved their standings, obtaining 57 and 41 seats, respectively.

Devendra Fadnavis, who led the BJP campaign to a significant win, is now a top candidate for the Chief Minister position. Eknath Shinde, who solidified his position as a prominent Maratha leader and maintained an impressive success rate of 81 percent, is also a leading candidate for the highest position.

Sources suggest that Mahayuti leaders will decide the Chief Minister’s post in Delhi, in consultation with BJP’s top officials.

The inauguration event is scheduled for November 26 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
