CBI conducts raids at 16 locations in Jharkhand, Kolkata, Bihar; seizes cash, jewelry & other docs
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at 16 locations in Jharkhand, Kolkata, and Patna, seizing unaccounted cash, one kilogram of gold, one kilogram of silver, and property-related documents in a crackdown on illegal stone mining.
Officials state that the investigative agency is currently conducting searches at 16 places, which consist of 14 locations in Jharkhand, one in Patna, and another in Kolkata.

The most recent seizures were part of a CBI inquiry regarding the purported unlawful removal of precious stones from the renowned “Nimbu Pahad” region in Jharkhand. These stones are said to have been illegally mined and sold in global markets.
Case pertains to illegal mining
The investigation began after the CBI registered this case on November 23, 2023, following directives from the Jharkhand High Court.
According to the CBI official, the raids were carried out following the registration of an FIR in the illegal mining case, as per the orders of Jharkhand High Court.
