The Central Bureau of Investigation informed a special court that certain documents related to the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar hospital were “falsely created” and “altered” at the Tala Police Station.
CBI requested for the judicial custody of Abhijit Mondal, officer in-charge of Tala Police Station, and Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar.
In the hearing, the CBI stated that while questioning the two accused, new information came to light revealing that certain fraudulent documents related to the case were fabricated or changed at the Tala police station.

CBI seizes CCTV footage of police station; sends it for forensic analysis
The CBI informed the court that it confiscated CCTV footage from the police station, which has been forwarded to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Kolkata for analysis.
“Some things are beyond of CBI investigation. There is no magic wand in our hand that we can do everything in a moment. We need time. We have extracted databases from their mobile phones and CCTV footages. We are still collecting evidences. It takes time that’s why we are praying for judicial custody till September 30,” the CBI counsel told the court.

The Sealdah court accepted the CBI’s request and sent Ghosh and Mondal to judicial custody until September 30.
Mondal was apprehended by the CBI on September 14, while Sandip Ghosh, who was already being held in corruption case, was placed under arrest by court orders on September 15.
On August 9, a 31-year-old medical trainee was discovered raped and murdered at RG Kar hospital. Kolkata Police apprehended Sanjay Roy, the main suspect, the next day.
