The Central Bureau of Investigation informed a special court that certain documents related to the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar hospital were “falsely created” and “altered” at the Tala Police Station.

CBI requested for the judicial custody of Abhijit Mondal, officer in-charge of Tala Police Station, and Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar.

In the hearing, the CBI stated that while questioning the two accused, new information came to light revealing that certain fraudulent documents related to the case were fabricated or changed at the Tala police station.

CBI seizes CCTV footage of police station; sends it for forensic analysis

The CBI informed the court that it confiscated CCTV footage from the police station, which has been forwarded to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Kolkata for analysis.

“Some things are beyond of CBI investigation. There is no magic wand in our hand that we can do everything in a moment. We need time. We have extracted databases from their mobile phones and CCTV footages. We are still collecting evidences. It takes time that’s why we are praying for judicial custody till September 30,” the CBI counsel told the court.

Mondal was apprehended by the CBI on September 14, while Sandip Ghosh, who was already being held in corruption case, was placed under arrest by court orders on September 15.

On August 9, a 31-year-old medical trainee was discovered raped and murdered at RG Kar hospital. Kolkata Police apprehended Sanjay Roy, the main suspect, the next day.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
