Haryana Polls: Congress releases 3rd list of 40 candidates

With this announcement, the Congress has nominated a total of 81 candidates for the upcoming election to the 90-member assembly. The Congress has yet to announce candidates for nine seats, amidst speculation of a late alliance with AAP and other local parties.

Congress releases 3rd list for Haryana Polls

Aditya Surjewala, son of Randeep Surjewala, fielded from Kaithal

Congress unveiled a list of 40 candidates for the Haryana Assembly polls, nominating Aditya Surjewala, the son of Randeep Surjewala, for the Kaithal constituency.

With this announcement, the Congress has nominated a total of 81 candidates for the upcoming election to the 90-member assembly. The Congress has yet to announce candidates for nine seats, amidst speculation of a late alliance with AAP and other local parties.

The filing of nominations ends on Thursday.

Congress released a list of 32 candidates on Friday

Bhupinder Singh Hooda fielded from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi

In addition to Surjewala, the third list also features Chander Mohan from Panchkula, Nirmal Singh from Ambala City, Akram Khan from Jagadhri, Balwan Singh Daulatpuri from Fatehabad, Ram Niwas Rara from Hisar, Pradeep Narwal from Bawani Khera (SC) and Mohammad Israil from Hathin.

Friday’s announcement by the Congress revealed 32 candidates for the upcoming elections, with former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda running from Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, state unit chief Udai Bhan from Hodal, and wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana.

The party initially announced 31 candidates, then later confirmed that Balbir Singh from Israna was approved by the CEC for the Scheduled Castes seat. Singh currently holds the position of MLA in Israna.

Party has renominated all its 28 MLAs

The party announced nine candidates on Sunday. It has reselected all of its 28 MLAs for nomination.

In addition to Hooda, Bhan, and Phogat, Mewa Singh has been nominated by the Congress to contest against Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from Ladwa.

The Congress was in negotiations with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for seat-sharing in the Haryana polls, with both sides engaging in tough bargaining.

Nevertheless, the negotiations reached a standstill and the AAP has issued several lists subsequently.

The assembly polls in Haryana are scheduled for October 5, with the vote counting set for October 8.
