India secured their 7th gold medal at the Paris Paralympics on Saturday, September 7th. Javelin thrower Navdeep broke the Paralympic record with an impressive throw of 47.32m, surpassing China’s Pengxiang Sun’s previous record set in Tokyo in 2021.

Navdeep won gold after Iran’s Sadgeh was disqualified for ‘unsporting conduct’

There was a lot of excitement during the event when Navdeep, who initially won the silver medal, was later awarded the gold medal due to Iran’s Beit Sadgeh being disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior.

The Paris Paralympics organization announced on their official website that Sadgeh’s Paralympic record throw of 47.64m would not be included in the final results.

Navdeep had a sluggish start to the event

Navdeep had a sluggish beginning to his event, stumbling over during the follow-through of his initial throw. Navdeep’s coach was displeased with the incident and jokingly informed the athlete about it. In his second throw, the javelin thrower moved up to second place on the list, then went on to break the Paralympic record with his third throw.

However, this was insufficient as the Iranian rival broke Navdeep’s record with his fifth try of the day. Navdeep’s third try eventually proved to be sufficient for winning the gold medal.

The medal earned by Navdeep was India’s inaugural medal in the men’s javelin F41 category. Fans on social media were amazed by the athlete’s passion and dedication in every throw.

India jumps to 15th spot in medals tally

Navdeep’s medal helped India reach the 15th position in the Paris medal tally, with a total of 7 golds, 9 silvers, and 13 bronze medals. India won its second gold medal in javelin throw with Sumit Antil’s Paralympic record throw of 70.59m.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
