India’s tally now stands at 26 medals

This accomplishment made Praveen the third Indian high jumper to win a medal in Paris, after Sharad Kumar won silver and Mariyappan Thangavelu won bronze in the men’s high jump T63 event. India now has a total of 26 medals at the Paris Paralympics, comprising of six gold, nine silver, and 11 bronze medals.

Who is Praveen Kumar?

Praveen faced challenges during his journey. Having one leg shorter at birth, he initially found it challenging to feel equal to his peers due to feelings of inferiority. In order to conquer his lack of confidence, he embraced sports, engaging in games with his friends and finding a love for volleyball. His life changed significantly when he competed in a high jump event at a mainstream athletics competition, where he discovered the possibilities for athletes with disabilities.
With guidance from Dr. Satyapal Singh, a para-athletics coach who saw his abilities, Praveen redirected his attention to the high jump event. This choice ended up being a pivotal moment in his professional journey. He proceeded to achieve a gold medal at the 2022 Asian Para Games by breaking a new Asian record with a 2.05 meter jump.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
