The elections for the Haryana Assembly will take place on October 1 in a single phase. The Election Commission made the announcement on Friday afternoon along with the dates of the eagerly awaited elections in Jammu and Kashmir. On October 4, the votes from both elections will be tallied concurrently.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar held a news conference to announce the schedule for the Legislative Assembly general elections.
Kumar also praised the electoral process in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
Gazette notification to be issued on September 9
The poll body’s timeline indicates that a gazette announcement would be released on September 9. Nominations must be submitted by September 12, with the following day set as the deadline for nomination review. The polls will open on October 1 (Tuesday), and ballots will be counted on Friday of the same week.

Current administration’s term to end on November 3
A four-way contest between the BJP, Congress, JJP, and AAP is anticipated in Haryana. On November 3, the current administration’s tenure will come to an end.
The state has a total of 90 assembly constituencies. Haryana has 2.01 crore voters who will vote in October, with 1.06 crore males and 0.95 crore females.
Rajiv Kumar declared that 20,629 voting stations, including 7,132 urban and 13,497 rural polling stations, will be established to serve 2 crore voters, including Gurugram, Sonepat, and Faridabad.
The BJP won 40 seats in the 2019 elections and will form a coalition government with the JJP. The Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janta Party has ten seats in the 90-member assembly. The BJP-JJP coalition ended earlier this year.

“2024 Lok Sabha polls were the biggest election process at the world level. It was completed successfully and peacefully,” he said. “It created a very strongly democratic surface for the entire democratic world, it was peaceful without any violence and the whole country celebrated the festival of elections. We also made many records. For the first time, maximum polling took place in the world,” said Rajiv Kumar.
