According to sources, two soldiers were killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Anantnag, Jammu & Kashmir, on Saturday.

Three more soldiers injured in Kokernag forest area

Three more soldiers were hurt in a gunfight in the Kokernag forest area, they said.

Earlier, in response to an intelligence tip-off about terrorists’ presence in the area, security personnel conducted search and combing operations in South Kashmir’s forests. They stated that security officers and police have been conducting a coordinated operation in the region since early Saturday morning.

“Based on specific intelligence input, a joint operation was launched by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF today in general area Kokernag, Anantnag. Contact was established and a firefight ensued. Two personnel have been injured and evacuated from the area. Operation is in progress”, an Army statement said.

The terrorists infiltrated Anantnag via Doda in Jammu area

The confrontation occurred after the terrorists fired on the search group, causing security personnel to respond. The terrorists reportedly infiltrated Anantnag via Doda in the Jammu area.

Joint security personnel are currently engaged in a gun battle with a gang of heavily armed militants hiding in the woodland.

“Exchange of fire is going on and further details are awaited as it is a communication deficient forest area” , according to the authorities.

The Anantnag terrorist encounter is the latest in a string of such attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months.

About two weeks ago, one soldier was killed and four others, including a Major rank officer, were injured when the Army foiled an attempt by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara area.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
